Counselling

How has your week been?

There are times in everyone’s life when the world makes us feel, among other things, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, angry, or unable to cope.  You may have lost interest in activities that you previously felt passionate about; or maybe you have become so focused on small details you are missing the bigger picture. The symptoms of a poor mental health episode are varied and many. They are personal to you and only you can say when and how you need help.

How does counselling help?

Counselling, therapy, talking therapy, it has many names and is for those who are dealing with difficult feelings, those who need an impartial ear to share ideas and insights.  Counselling can form part of your self-care tool box; it is not just for those with a mental health diagnosis; seeing a counsellor regularly can be a preventative measure if a situation feels like it could get worse.

Luckily, the saying above has a lot of truth behind it and talking really can make all the difference.  Being truly listened to is quite a unique experience.  Counselling is not like a conversation, it is a safe space to speak freely, let out your emotions, shout, cry, and have time to think.

Counselling can help you understand yourself better, what drives and motivates you, and what hinders and stops you.

Having said that, there are times when we have intense emotional episodes. Feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, stressed or having low self-esteem are all signs that there is something important in your internal world that needs your consideration.  Putting on a brave face and ignoring what your inner self is trying to draw your attention to is not going to make it go away.

By blending therapeutic approaches, primarily, Humanistic, Psychodynamic and CBT, I can offer a truly person-centred approach, which will support you in moving forward with your life.  We will move at your pace and only discuss what you want to talk about.  My practice is open, safe, and non-judgmental.

There are many ways to access counselling and hypnotherapy.

What can counselling help with?

Counselling is an effective way to change routines and behaviours that lead to stress, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, lack of motivation or creativity, self-defeating behaviours and anger issues.

It gives you a space to explore questions around topics such as sexual identity as well as helping with low self-esteem, personal growth and understanding yourself better.

A counsellor will work with you as you assimilate into your life a loss, a bereavement, relationship difficulties or breakdown, or a life-changing health diagnosis, additionally, counselling can support recovery from an abusive or traumatic past or addiction.

These are some examples of the areas counselling can help an individual make positive lasting change, the list is not exhaustive and if you feel you are in need of speaking to someone outside your familial and social circle, please get in touch with a counsellor even if your particular concern has not been mentioned here.

Where do we start?

The best place to start is with an initial consultation, which is a one-hour session, charged at half normal fee (£20), where you can discuss the difficulties you are currently experiencing, for you to meet me and get to know me a bit so you can make an informed decision about whether I am the right person for you to work with and for me to make sure I have the training and knowledge to support you effectively.

By arranging an initial consultation, there is no expectation or requirement for you to continue your journey with me beyond this.

If you would like to arrange an initial consultation, you can either book a session here or contact me with any questions.

Please Note: Happy Hatching Mind is not an emergency service if you are having a mental health crisis.  Please go to In An Emergency for crisis support.
